Exceptional SW Geometry from ALE Fibrations

We show that the genus 34 Seiberg-Witten curve underlying N = 2 Yang-Mills theory with gauge group E 6 yields physically equivalent results to the manifold obtained by fibration of the E 6 ALE singularity. This reconciles a puzzle raised by N = 2 string duality.

Lefschetz Fibrations in Symplectic Geometry

One of the cornerstones of complex geometry is the link between positivity of curvature and ampleness. Let X be a compact complex manifold and L ! X be a holomorphic line bundle over X. Suppose that L has a unitary connection whose curvature form is ?2i! where ! is a positive (1; 1)-form on X. Then for large k the line bundle L k has many holomorphic sections. More precisely, the holo-morphic s...

Special Lagrangian Fibrations II: Geometry

This paper is a progress report on work surrounding the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow mirror symmetry conjecture [25]. Roughly put, this conjecture suggests the following program for attacking an appropriate form of the mirror conjecture. Let X be a Calabi-Yau n-fold, with a large complex structure limit point p in a compactification of the complex moduli space of X . One expects mirrors of X to be ass...

On the geometry of regular hyperbolic fibrations

Hyperbolic fibrations of PG(3, q) were introduced by Baker, Dover, Ebert and Wantz in [1]. Since then, many examples were found, all of which are regular and agree on a line. It is known, via algebraic methods, that a regular hyperbolic fibration of PG(3, q) that agrees on a line gives rise to a flock of a quadratic cone in PG(3, q), and conversely. In this paper this correspondence will be exp...

Exact Solutions of Exceptional Gauge Theories from Toric Geometry

We derive four dimensional gauge theories with exceptional groups F4, E8, E7, and E7 with matter, by starting from the duality between the heterotic string on K3 and Ftheory on a elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau 3-fold. This configuration is compactified to four dimensions on a torus, and by employing toric geometry, we compute the type IIB mirrors of the Calabi-Yaus of the type IIA string theor...
